Todd Curtis was born in Texas City, Texas in 1969. He earned a BS in Physical Therapy at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston in 1993. While practicing physical therapy at various outpatient orthopaedic facilities, he obtained a BA in Classics at the University of Texas in Austin in 2004. Thanks to the Wellcome Trust’s generous MA and PhD studentships, he completed an MA in the History of Medicine at Newcastle University and pursued a PhD in Classics under the supervision of Prof. van der Eijk and Dr. Wisse.
Dr Curtis' PhD project, Medicine, Science, and Spin: Rhetorical Strategies and Generic Constraints in the Galenic Corpus, focused upon the interrelationship between scientific knowledge, genre, and rhetoric in the Galenic Corpus.
Dr Curtis took up a position as Lecturer at the University of Texas at Austin in 2010. His current research interests include:
